Beer Info:
Descriptors: Alcoholic Astringent
Bottle Inspection:
Bottle Comments: ok

Aroma:
Malt - None. Hops - None. Esters/ Phenols - Medium amts of vanilla.
Med-High amts of a chocolate. But chocolate syrup vs cocoa powder or choc malt. On initial pour the peanut butter aroma was that of natural coarsely refined PB. As the beer warmed that faded into mostly cloying chocolate syrup.
6 / 12

Appearance:
Beer is a dark chocolatey brown. Opaque. Head is light tan with small dense bubble. Poured large but faded to 1/4" inch and then lasted.
3 / 3

Flavor:
Malt - low chocolate bready flavor. med-low roast. Hops - None. Ferment - no prominent ester profile. Blance is to the chocolate but finishes with a medium and mildly harsh bitterness. As the beer warmed a tiny bit of PB character is there but i had to hunt for it.
11 / 20

Mouthfeel:
Body - med-high with a slick and viscous feel. Carbonation is medium. Enough to provide some prickle on the tongue. Mildly warming (6.5% abv). No astringency. Does leave a drying sensation despite its body - could be due to the chocolate, or hop bitterness.
3 / 5

Overall:
Decent beverage for the fan of extreme flavored beers. No flaws to speak of as to quality but the recipe and balance (as noted above) made it hard to finish. Both flavor and aroma are 80/20 Choc/PB and little to no beer character.
