Bottle Inspection: All Good
High amount of toasty, melanoidin rich malt aromas. Medium amount of brown sugar, dark fruit (figs, dates and plums) and syrup-like aromas. Low amount of chocolate aroma. No hops. No alcohol. No DMS and no diacetyl.
10 / 12
Deep garnet red color with brilliant clarity when held to light. Large amount of tan head that persists. Tight and large bubbles.
3 / 3
Melanoidin rich malty flavors dominate. Plums, figs, raisins, brown sugar and just a touch of chocolate. No hop flavor. No esters. Balance is decidedly toward the malty without being overly sweet. Medium finish (properly attenuated).
16 / 20
Full body with medium carbonation. Minimal warmth, which is surprising for the style. Medium amount of creaminess and no astringency.
5 / 5
This is really an excellent beer. Strong and rich. The only possible suggestion would be just a touch more bitterness to help decrease some of the malt sweetness.
