Style: 10B American Amber Ale
Beer Info:

Bottle Comments:

Aroma:
High amount of "juicy" hop aroma. Reminiscent of pineapple/orange juice. Wisps of dark caramel sweetness peak thru.
10 / 12

Appearance:
Deep amber with a moderately high amount of off-white foam that persists. Hazy.
2 / 3

Flavor:
Dark caramel flavors dominate, eventually giving way to a moderately high, firm hop bitterness. Hop flavor is low, especially compared to what the aroma was suggesting.
12 / 20

Mouthfeel:
Medium body with medium carbonation. Smooth and creamy with some slight hop based astringency. No alcohol warmth.
4 / 5

Overall:
It seems as though the hop flavor has dropped out of this sample, leaving the beer bitter, but without any perceived sweetness and flavor from the hops. Providing a fresher example may improve this, or adding additional hops might help.

Score Sheet #3 - Judged by a Rank Pending judge and scored 38

Judge: Brian Robbins (b-robbins@comcast.net)
Judge Qualification: Rank Pending
Entry ID: 14797158
Style: 10B American Amber Ale
Beer Info:
Descriptors: Estery
Bottle Inspection: All Good
Bottle Comments:

Aroma:
Moderate caramel aroma with a hint of toast. Moderate fruity (peach) and floral geranium scent. Clean fermentation
8 / 12

Appearance:
Copper colored, fairly clear but not crystal. Huge head of mousse rich dull white foam of fine bubbles. Persistent and laces the glass.
3 / 3

Flavor:
Moderate malt character, with low bready notes, moderate caramel, and low toast. Firmly balanced towards hop bitterness. Medium hop bitterness and medium hop flavors of fruity peach, herbal and floral. Clean fermentation, no diacetyl, lingering bitterness in the palate.
14 / 20

Mouthfeel:
Medium body with moderate carbonation. Creamy, with just a hint of warmth in the finish.
5 / 5

Overall:
An excellent beer that is to style, bit perhaps starting to show its age. Hop flavors should be higher, and caramel has started to dominate. Either serve beer fresher, or if fresh, adjust recipe by reducing crystal malts and increasing late hop additions.
