Aroma:
Low amount of skunky aroma immediately takes center stage and then is followed by a moderate amount of toasty bread like rich malt character. Low amount of sweet chocolate. No fruity esters. No hop aroma. Skunky aroma lesses as the sample warms.
8 / 12

Appearance:
Lighter brown - almost dark copper or dark amber with brilliant clarity. Medium amount of off-white head that persists as tiny bubbles around edge of glass.
3 / 3

Flavor:
Medium-high amount of toasty, melanoidin, rich malt character with low amounts of chocolate and medium-low molasses character that lingers in to the finish. No hop flavor but low hop bitterness - enough to keep it from being cloying. Balance is firmly toward the malt side. No diacetyl or fruity esters.
13 / 20

Mouthfeel:
Medium body with medium carbonation. Moderate amount of creaminess with a light alcohol warmth. No astringency.
4 / 5

Overall:
A solid example of the style with just a couple of minor flaws. The skunky aroma is a little off-putting, but does seem to lessen as the sample warms. I know the bottle was sitting on a shelf for who knows how long.
